Garden Party Girls

Garden Party Girls won Best In show at the 2020 Northern AZ Watercolor Society's annual show. It was fun to see visitors stand right beside it, trying to see if the petals were 3 dimensional. They are not, but it was flattering. The painting is on 300 lb Arches cold press paper and is floated on a dark green suede mat with a silver frame.

I have painted these white roses several times in different sizes. The 30 x 22 format was a challenge! As I worked on the roses they began to look very gray to me and it was wonderful to see the whites brighten as I added the darks of the leaves and background. It has happened every time!
